U.S. officials stated that the Department of Defense (Pentagon) has ordered the deployment of 1,500 soldiers to secure the U.S.-Mexico border following an executive order issued by President Donald Trump.

President Trump had signed executive orders concerning border security, including one authorizing the deployment of U.S. forces along the Mexican border.

According to reports, Trump plans to direct the federal government to immediately resume construction of the border wall, end parole policies from the Biden administration (including the CBP One application), and reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy, which required asylum seekers to wait in dangerous border cities while their applications were processed.

The network also reported that another order will involve deploying U.S. forces along the border under the command of U.S. Northern Command. It will "direct the military to prioritize our borders and territorial safety in its strategic operational planning."
