US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hailed Egypt's role as the main pillar of security and stability in the Middle East and the Arab World.
During her meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of COP27, Pelosi highlighted Egypt’s vital role in fighting terrorism and extremist thought.
She also lauded Egypt’s exerted efforts in achieving sustainable and comprehensive development.
On his part, Sisi stressed Egypt's keenness to boost its strategic relations with the US in light of growing regional challenges and successive international crises.
The president asserted that such challenges have been caused by back-to-back global crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
He called for solidarity in the face of such global implications.
The meeting came a day before a scheduled visit by US President Joe Biden to attend the COP27 summit, marking his first visit to Egypt since taking office in 2021.
More than 40,000 delegates will attend the event, including key political figures such as French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Britain's new prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
