Part of the Long March 2C rocket, which was carrying a satellite, exploded and fell over a populated area shortly after launch.

The newspaper "India Today" said that the remains of the Chinese "Long March 2C" missile, which was carrying a satellite that China and France launched jointly yesterday, Saturday, fell near a residential area.

The newspaper said that the space rocket and satellite, called the Variable Space Object Observer (SVOM), were launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 3:00 a.m. yesterday, Saturday.
