Palestinian factions commended the efforts of Egypt and the mediators in the recent Gaza agreement, according to a statement issued after a meeting, held in Cairo, earlier today.

The statement read: “At the invitation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and under the generous auspices of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and in continuation of the efforts of our brotherly mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey to complete the stages of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with President Trump’s plan and to address the repercussions of the war on Gaza, a number of Palestinian factions held a meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to unify the Palestinian national vision in order to advance the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza Strip.”

The participants agreed on the following:

1- To commend the intensive efforts of US President Trump and the mediators (Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey) to support the Palestinian people and end their suffering in the Gaza Strip, while emphasizing the factions’ full commitment to continuing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the remaining stages of President Trump’s plan.

2. Support the mediators' efforts to form a Palestinian National Transitional Committee to administer the Gaza Strip, while providing the appropriate environment for the Committee to immediately assume all tasks/responsibilities in the Gaza Strip to manage daily life and essential services, in cooperation with the Peace Council and its International Executive Committee, which will oversee the acceptance and implementation of reconstruction efforts in the Strip.

3. Call upon the Peace Council, in coordination with the mediators, to pressure Israel to halt its aggression against the Palestinian people, open the crossings, allow the entry of necessary aid to all parts of the Strip, and withdraw the Israeli army. This will contribute to restoring lasting calm and normalcy to the Strip, and create the conditions necessary for advancing early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

4. Continue working to unify Palestinian visions/positions to overcome the current critical phase and move forward towards the unity of the Palestinian political system and independent national decision-making in defense of the rights of the Palestinian people.

This includes confronting the annexation plans for the West Bank, settlement expansion, and violations against religious sites in Jerusalem, while emphasizing the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

"We extend our thanks to the Arab Republic of Egypt, led by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the mediators for their efforts to support the Palestinian cause," the statment added.
