At the joint invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Egypt on 13 October 2025 to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit.

The Pakistani PM's visit underscores Pakistan’s support for a peaceful resolution to the humanitarian crisis and ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Shehbaz will be accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, along with other senior cabinet members. Their participation comes at a critical moment, as world leaders prepare to witness the signing of a landmark peace agreement aimed at halting hostilities in Gaza and addressing the dire humanitarian conditions in the territory.

The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit is the culmination of a diplomatic initiative launched on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York last month.

On 23 September 2025, Prime Minister Sharif joined the Presidents and Heads of Government of seven Arab and Islamic countries, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Türkiye, for a high-level summit with President Trump. The meeting focused on identifying a roadmap to secure peace, protect civilian lives, and begin the process of reconstruction in Gaza.

In a joint communiqué following that meeting, participating nations welcomed the peace efforts spearheaded by the United States and reaffirmed their collective commitment to working together to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid, and establish the foundations for long-term stability.

Pakistan’s presence at the summit reaffirms its historic and principled support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to self-determination. Prime Minister Sharif’s participation also reflects Pakistan’s belief that the path to peace in the Middle East must include justice, protection of civilians, and respect for international law.

Islamabad hopes the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit will open the door to a full Israeli withdrawal, the protection of Palestinian civilians, the release of detainees, an end to displacement, and a genuine plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Pakistan further advocates that this peace process must contribute to launching a credible political framework that leads to the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders, and in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
