Pakistan has issued a forceful condemnation of recent actions by Israel and illegal settlers that it says are aimed at undermining the religious, historical, and legal status of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement, the government denounced the provocative conduct as a clear violation of international law and warned of its potential to further inflame tensions in the already volatile region.
“These actions are unacceptable,” the statement read, “and constitute a flagrant violation of international norms. They threaten to escalate the situation and undermine the sanctity of Islamic holy sites,” the statement read.
Pakistan called on the international community to take urgent measures to uphold the historical status of Al-Aqsa and prevent Israel from engaging in further provocations.
The statement also condemned the continued targeting of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, highlighting a recent Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced families. The attack reportedly resulted in dozens of deaths, including many children. Islamabad described the assault as another example of “Israeli impunity” and called it “reprehensible.”
“The harrowing images from Gaza should serve as a wake-up call to the world,” the government said. “These attacks must end immediately, and Israel must be held accountable for its heinous crimes.”
Reaffirming its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The statement concluded with a call for global action to end the ongoing violence and to ensure justice and dignity for the Palestinian people.
