More than 20,000 people have been displaced within Yemen since the beginning of 2024, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
In a report released on Monday, the IOM stated that it had tracked 3,411 households, comprising 20,466 individuals, who have been displaced at least once between January 1 and November 30, 2024.
The report highlights that the majority of the displaced families were recorded in Marib Governorate, which accounted for 1,506 households, or 9,036 individuals.
This was followed by Al Hudaydah with 799 households (4,794 people), Taiz with 762 households (4,572 people), Lahj with 281 households (1,686 people), and Al-Dhali with 50 households (300 people).
Additionally, there were 8 households (48 people) displaced in Shabwa and 5 households (30 people) in Hadramout.
According to the IOM, the displacement figures from the past week represent a 30% decrease compared to the previous week.
The report indicates that 55% of the displaced families left their homes primarily due to the economic hardships caused by the ongoing conflict, while 45% were driven by security concerns and threats in their areas of residence.
