Veteran Egyptian actress Osama Abbas made on Sunday his first rare appearance after a long absence.
In a video posted on Facebook, Abbas stepped into the spotlight to express his gratitude for his honoring from the Egyptian National Theatre Festival.
The prominent actor in the footage in the garden of his home while holding the award of honor and with a different appearance and weight gain.
Abbas thanked everyone who congratulated him on the award and described it as an "end-of-life award".
At the 17th edition of the National Festival of Egyptian Theater, headed by Mohamed Riad, Abbas was honored in a panel held at the Supreme Council of Culture at the Cairo Opera House, in which a book about the acclaimed actor, written by critic Mohamed Abdel Rahman, was also issued.
Abbas apologized for not attending his honoring ceremony due to his health problems and assigned his son to attend the event on his behalf.
The acclaimed actor began his artistic career 55 years ago by chance.
During university, he met the late artist Al-Daif Ahmed, who invited him to come to the theater to take part in the signing of a play contract due to his work as a lawyer.
However, after his arrival, he was surprised that the production team wanted him to join the play.
He joined the "Three Lights of the Stage" troupe for 6 years. Abbas continued to practice law during daylight and act at night in various plays until he proved himself as an actor and decided to devote himself entirely to the acting scene.
Abbas starred in many important artistic works during his career, such as “The Journey of Mr. Abu Al-Ala Al-Bishri”, “Dumou Fi Oyoun Waqiha”, “Bawabet Al Halawani”, “Raafat Al-Hagan”, and “Aida Opera”.
