"Orphan Black: Echoes" Gets Premiere Date

The Krysten Ritter-led "Orphan Black: Echoes", an original series set in the world of Orphan Black, will premiere Sunday, June 23 on AMC, AMC+, and BBC America.

Original series co-creator John Fawcett creates the follow-up to the 2013 critically acclaimed Canadian series.

Set in the near future, "Orphan Black: Echoes" explores how scientific experimentation influences human existence. The ten-episode first season will follow a group of women who band together to figure out the mysteries of their identities.

Ritter plays Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world. Keeley Hawes, Amanda Fix, Avan Jogia, Rya Kihlstedt, and James Hiroyuki Liao also star.

The series was announced in 2019 and doesn't act as a direct sequel. Anna Fishko serves as creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer with Fawcett as director and executive producer. 

David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, executive producers from Boat Rocker on the original series, return as executive producers on the series. Boat Rocker’s Nick Nantell and Kerry Appleyard will also executive produce, in addition to Katie O’Connell Marsh.

Boat Rocker manages the Orphan Black global franchise, including content distribution and consumer products.

The original Orphan Black ran for five seasons, airing from March 30, 2013, to August 12, 2017. It featured unforgettable performances by Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany, who played a myriad of clones that populated the story throughout its run.

The series cultivated a massive and loyal fanbase who identify themselves as the #CloneClub. Fawcett is set to direct the sequel, while Anna Fishko is attached to create and write as well as serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Fishko has a vast experience with gritty and thrilling series, having penned episodes of Netflix’s "Pieces of Her", "Fear the Walking Dead", and "Colony". AMC Networks premieres "Orphan Black: Echoes" in 2023.
