Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman condemned what he described as ongoing attacks targeting Omani territory during a phone call Wednesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to the Oman News Agency.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation, as well as the latest regional developments and efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
During the call, Sultan Haitham reaffirmed Oman’s neutral stance in regional conflicts while expressing strong dissatisfaction and condemnation of repeated attacks affecting the country’s territory. He stressed that Oman will take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and stability.
The remarks came shortly after Omani authorities reported a drone attack on fuel storage facilities at the Port of Salalah. A security source told the Oman News Agency that several drones were intercepted, while others struck fuel tanks at the port.
Officials confirmed that the attack caused damage to fuel storage facilities but did not result in any human casualties.
Omani authorities said relevant agencies are continuing monitoring and defensive operations to confront what they described as hostile drone attacks.
Both leaders also stressed the importance of halting escalation in the region and prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further instability that could threaten the security of regional states.
