The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated Sunday in a high-level international conference in Cairo aimed at modernizing religious and media discourse to better protect women’s rights across member states.
The two-day event, held under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, features prominent leaders including Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb. In a recorded address, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha described women’s empowerment as a "fundamental pillar" for social stability and comprehensive development in the Islamic world.
Taha emphasized the strategic need for an "enlightened" discourse grounded in Islam’s tolerant values to consolidate women’s status. The conference seeks to develop policies that promote women's active participation in public life while integrating support between religious institutions and national mechanisms.
