Archaeologist and Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass flew to the Italian city of Noto. It is known that an earthquake hit the city in 1693 and completely destroyed it. The city sank into the ground. This region dates back to the Roman and Arab times when Sicily was colonized.

The mayor of Noto received "Hawass" upon his arrival. They visited the locations where the excavations are being carried out by the University of Catania.

Speaking to the international TV channels, he said that these excavations are very important because they will show us, for the first time, the love and religious life of the city's inhabitants who lived in that area. The mission discovered a religious site with the remains of a church dating back nearly 1,000 years.

The mayor of Noto has announced that he invited Hawass to dig in the Archaeological city.

Hawass said that he will start excavations in the city by the end of this year and agreed to hold a televised seminar on the discoveries of the city. This seminar will be attended by "Roberto Jacob", the famous commentator.

In the evening, Hawass gave a lecture to a thousand people; it was attended by the mayor of the city, then Hawass signed his new book, entitled "Magic of the Pyramids", this book was translated into Italian language.
