The political leadership paid special attention to the governorates of Upper Egypt, as they remained in the circle of oblivion for many years.
But the view of Upper Egypt changed completely during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who opened projects that created a state of unprecedented development.
The development plans encompass many fields, especially education, health, and the infrastructure, which had been neglected for very long periods. However, national projects changed the face of Upper Egypt and made it a destination for investment.
During the annual development plan for the year 22/23, the government allocated generous investments to the governorates of northern Upper Egypt amounting to 11.4 billion pounds, an increase of 23.7% of the total government investments.
Those investments were directed to the governorates of Upper Egypt during the year, which amounted to 48.2 billion pounds.
And Beni Suef governorate comes in the first place in terms of government investments that were directed to northern Upper Egypt with a rate of 39.5% and a value of 4.52 billion pounds, followed by Minya governorate with a rate of 39.3%, then Fayoum governorate comes in third place with a rate of 12.2%, and educational services come in the forefront of sectors with about 24.2% of the total investments directed to the governorate.
