On the occasion of blessed Eid Al-Adha, National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), organized a temporary exhibition under the title “The Road to Makkah… The Journey to Transfer the Covering of the Holy Kaaba from Cairo to Makkah”, during the period from June 26 to July 7.
For his part, Dr. Maysara Abdullah, Executive Vice President of NMEC's Authority for Archaeological Affairs, explained that the exhibition includes a rare collection, including the belt of the Holy Kaaba and parts of honorable cladding, in addition to a number of rare photographs from the honorable journey from Cairo to Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the rituals of Hajj taken by Muhammad Effendi Saudi, commissioned by Imam Muhammad Abduh, Grand Mufti of Egypt in 1904, which is a complete documentation of the journey and aspects of life at that time.
Ms. Azza Rizk, head of the educational department at the museum, said that the activities of the department durinh Dhuʻl-Hijjah also included the establishment of a group of artistic and educational workshops and storytelling workshops for adults and children under the title “Hajj Journey” to learn about the story of building the Kaaba, and rituals performed by Muslims, during the Hajj period.
The arts of Hajj were also celebrated with the adults in a workshop in which Ms. Heba Abdel Qader, Senior Art Specialist at NMEC, presented the story of manufacturing the Kaaba covering.
