Agostino Palese officially took office the day before yesterday as the new Ambassador of Italy to Egypt, pending the presentation of credentials to President al-Sisi in the coming weeks.
"Today marks the beginning of my mandate, and I am immediately getting to work with the utmost commitment," Palese declared, adding, "to give new impetus to the bilateral partnership between two key players for security and prosperity in the Mediterranean."
The new Italian Ambassador stressed that his mission will focus on actively promoting channels of dialogue and new opportunities for the Italian System (Sistema Italia), further strengthening the historic ties between Rome and Cairo.
