New Egyptian Coins to Honor Medical Teams

On Friday, Egypt`s Ministry of Finance announced the issuance of 15 coins bearing the logo of the Egyptian medical teams in order to honor their efforts in facing the new Coronavirus.

Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance saluted the noble humanitarian message that the“ White Egypt Army” is performing with utmost sincerity, leading the first ranks to confront the emerging Coronavirus.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Finance, Maait explained that “the Public Treasury and Coinage Authority is documenting this growing heroic role of the Egyptian White Army in the nation’s memory, by offering 10 million pieces of the pound denomination and 5 million pieces of the fifty piasters denomination bearing the logo of the Egyptian medical teams, in appreciation of their great efforts in Saving the lives of thousands of citizens valiantly.“

The minister emphasized that “the state pays increasing attention to health sector workers, and an additional package has been approved to improve their wages

Maait referred to an increase in the medical professions allowance for about 600 thousand doctors and nursing staff in the health sector at a total cost of EGP 2.25 billion. The medical fees that are paid to doctors and nursing agencies have been increased from EGP 400 to EGP 700.

He also announced establishing a risk fund for medical professionals.

The minister added that “the reward for doctors of excellence in university hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Al-Azhar University hospitals that are disbursed to them during the internship period, has been increased to EGP 2,200 per month instead of EGP 400.
