Netflix streaming service unveiled Monday a trailer for the upcoming horror movie, "Fear Street Part 1: 1994", which is set to premiere on Friday, July 2nd.
The teenage slasher will be the first part of the "Fear Street" trilogy, which is based on the R.L. Stine series of novels and takes place in three different years: 1994, 1978, and 1666.
It kicks off with a group of teens in 1994 discovering that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for over 300 years may be connected. They soon realize they may be targets themselves.
The book series was adapted into a miniseries called "Fear Street Nights" in 2005 and resurfaced again in 2014.
Stine, best known for the kid-friendly “Goosebumps” series, debuted the teen-oriented “Fear Street” in 1989.
The "Goosebumps" series was highly popular among younger children, while Fear Street was a favorite amongst young teens.
“Fear Street Part 1” is directed by Leah Janiak, who co-wrote the script with Phil Graziadei.
The movie stars Maya Hawke, Kiana Madeira, Charlene Amoia, and others.
The streaming giant will debut the trilogy each on a Friday night starting this week. Each chapter of the trilogy tells a tale of its own, yet all the stories are connected to the same source of evil.
Fear Street Parts One, Two, and Three will debut on Netflix on July 2, July 9, and July 16.
“Fear Street Part 2” will take place in 1978 at Shadyside at Camp Nightwing during the summer. But the fun in the sun becomes a gruesome fight for survival when another residence is possessed with the urge to kill.
“Fear Street Part 3” will take place in 1666 and centers around the origins of Sarah Fier’s curse, which is finally revealed as history comes full circle on a night that changes the lives of Shadysiders forever.”
