The reigning Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe announced that he will run for the 2025 CAF Presidency elections, a statement by CAF released on Friday stated.
The statement said: “Following requests from numerous CAF Member Association Presidents, Zonal Union Presidents, and key stakeholders, the CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has finally agreed to stand as a candidate at the CAF Presidential Elections scheduled for March 2025.”
Motsepe, owns South Africa's PSL club Mamelodi Sundowns and served as its president, named as the CAF President in 2021, succeeding Madgasca's Ahmad Ahmad.
His decision to run for a second term came after requests from several stakeholders, according to the statement.
