Yassir Zabiri, the Moroccan striker who shined at the U-20 FIFA World Cup, is reportedly being considered for a potential move to Spanish giants Atlético Madrid, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Currently playing for Portuguese side Famalicão, Zabiri has quickly risen to international prominence following his standout performances at the U-20 World Cup, where he led Morocco to a historic title by scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Argentina in the final.
He also finished the tournament as joint top scorer with five goals and was named the tournament’s second-best player, earning praise for his ability to deliver in crucial moments, including a stunning opening goal from a direct free-kick.
Zabiri joined Famalicão in the summer of 2024 from Moroccan club Ittihad Touarga for just €100,000.
Despite initially playing with the U-23 squad, his impressive form saw him break into the first team, where he has already scored 3 goals in 6 appearances this season.
Famalicão manager Hugo Oliveira has since promoted him to the senior squad on a permanent basis.
The link to Atlético Madrid appears to be more than just speculation because Famalicão is partially owned (32%) by the same businessman who holds shares in Atlético, creating a strong player exchange pipeline between the two clubs.
