Mohamed Sobhi Turns 76

The renowned Egyptian actor and director Mohamed Sobhi celebrated his 76th birthday on March 3, which was marked by a deluge of congratulatory messages on his social media accounts.

Sobhi is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished actors and directors in the Arab film industry. The so-called: "Sonbol" was born in Cairo on March 3, 1948, and graduated from the Institute of Drama in 1970. Sobhi also served as a teacher at the institute until 1984.

Throughout his illustrious career, the veteran actor has starred in many successful films, plays, and TV series, including Ali Beih Mazhar (Mr. Aly Mazhar), Rehlet el Melyoon (The Million Journey), Sonbol ba3d el Melyoon (Sumbul After the Million), Yomyat Wanees (Wanees's Diaries), Faris bila Gawad (Cavalier Without A Steed), Al Gareeh (The Injured), Uncle Zizou Habibi (1977) (My Beloved Uncle Zizou), Houna Al-Qahira (Here is Cairo), Al Karnak (The Karnak), Al-Ameel Rakam 13 (Agent 13), 'Ayesh Fe Al Ghaibooba (Living In A Coma), Ana wa Ha'ola' (Me And Those), Ragol Ghany Faqeer Giddan (A Very Poor Rich Man), Al Nems, Alam Ghareeb Gedan and Shamlool.

Over the years, he has garnered numerous national and international awards, including Doctor Soaad El Sabbah for intellectual creativity (1991), an Honorary Certificate in the Arabic theatre ceremony (1994), Best Egyptian Actor (1996,1998), and The Best Director Golden Lion Award (1999-2001).
