Veteran Egyptian actor Mohamed Henedy will be honored at the opening ceremony of the 17th National Theatre Festival in recognition of the various and distinguished theatrical works he presented during his long-standing career.
This edition runs from July 15-30 and is named after theatre icon Samiha Ayoub.
The festival is an important artistic event that features the Egyptian theater throughout the year. It is open to performances produced by the state, private and corporate theatre, NGOs, amateur groups, university theaters, acting syndicates, companies, and various production bodies.
The festival aims to encourage creative theater actors to compete as well as develop performances to participate in creating works worthy of ancient Egyptian theater.
Born on February 1, 1965, Henedy earned his bachelor’s degree from the Cinema Institute in 1991.
He began his career acting in the play “Doctor Za’attar” and in the television series “A’la Asl Dawar,” “Al A’rdahalgy”, and “Al Bakheel wa Ana”.
Henedy has been one of the most prominent stars in Egypt and the Middle East in the last 20 years.
During his long career, he starred in many popular films such as “Ismailia Rayeh Gay”, “Sa’eedi in the American University”, “Hamam fi Amsterdam”, “Gana El Bian El Taly”, “Askar fi el-muaskar”, “Fool el Seen el Azeem”, “Wesh Egram”, and “Ramadan Mabrouk Abul-Alamein Hamouda”.
