Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp announced his 29-man squad for their pre-season game against Lyon. The iconic Egyptian star Mohamed Salah joined the squad alongside the Brazilian keeper Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Mane is still absent after Senegal qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations final, which they lost 1-0 to Algeria on 19 July, and he is scheduled to return next week.

Salah did not participate in the Reds' preparation camp because of his international commitment. The Liverpool star played with the Pharaohs in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, held in Egypt where his side suffered a shock exit by South Africa in the last 16.

The Reds play against Lyon on Wednesday, July 31 as they prepare for Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester City. Liverpool went down to their fourth successive pre-season defeat by Napoli 0-3.

Liverpool completed on Sunday their second deal in this summer after the signing of the 16-year-old midfielder Harvey Elliott from Fulham.

Elliott became the second emerging talent to join Liverpool this summer after the 17-year-old Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg, who moved to the Reds on June, 27 from PEC Zwolle.

It is worth mentioning that the Reds claimed the UEFA Champions League title after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in June.

The Squad is as follows:

Goalkeeper: Alisson, Lonergan, Mignolet, Ojrzynski

Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Joe Gomez, Ki-Jana Hoever, Lewis, Larouci, Lovren, Matip, Robertson, Van den Berg, Van Dijk,

Midfielder: Harvey Elliott, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keïta, Adam Lallana, Milner, Salah, Wijnaldum

Forwards: Bobby Duncan, Rhian Brewster, Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Wilson
