Minister of Tourism, Antiquities participates as keynote speaker in meeting of US Chamber of Commerce

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa,  participated in the monthly meeting organized by the US Chamber of Commerce in Egypt for its members, in the presence of Mr. Tarek Tawfiq, President of the Chamber.

The Minister thanked the US Chamber of Commerce in Egypt for this generous invitation to participate in the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Ahmed Issa gave a presentation on what the Ministry has achieved during the past period in light of the national strategy for tourism development in Egypt and the Egyptian state’s goals for the industry.

He reviewed the rates of incoming tourist traffic to Egypt during the period from 2010 to 2023.

He pointed out that 2023 is considered a record year in the volume of incoming tourism to Egypt, as Egypt received 14.906 million tourists, which is the highest rate of tourism traffic in the history of tourism in Egypt, as the peak year of 2010 achieved 14.731 million tourists.

The Minister noted that there is a growth rate in Egypt’s share of the global tourism movement that reached 33% in 2023 compared to 2019, as its share was 0.9% in 2019 compared to 1.2% in 2023.

He pointed out to the goals of the Egyptian state to achieve an increase in the number of tourist traffic coming to Egypt at growth rates ranging between 25% and 30% annually.

He also talked about the hotel investment incentives that were recently announced during the Cabinet meeting to expand hotel investment in Egypt and increase the number of hotel rooms, which will contribute to increasing the supply of rooms to accommodate 30 million tourists by 2028.
