CAIRO, JULY 6 (SEE) Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khalid Abdel Ghafar, received on Thursday Hungarian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter szijjarto, and Hungarian Ambassador to Cairo Kveck Peter, at the ministry's headquarters.
This came in the framework of the keenness of the Ministry of Higher Education to deepen and broaden the scope of cooperation with countries having good relations with Egypt.
The two sides discussed ways of boosting cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research, exchanging experiences at the level of professors and through student exchange programs, in addition to activating scientific cooperation agreements between Egyptian and Hungarian universities.
At the beginning of the meeting, Abdel-Ghaffar pointed out that the bilateral relations between Egypt and Hungary is characterized by close association throughout history, noting that Hungary is an ally and a strategic partner of Egypt, stressing the importance of continuing the implementation of joint scientific projects to serve the objectives of both countries.
The two sides agreed to double the number of scholarships offered by the Hungarian side to obtain bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in the fields of engineering (water engineering, agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering), medical sciences and other disciplines.
For his part, Abdel-Ghaffar raised the number of grants offered to Hungarian students in the Egyptian universities.
He stressed that the ministry is giving top priority to the establishment of foreign universities' branches in Egypt, directing the call to the Hungarian side to establish Hungarian universities in the New administrative capital.
On the other hand, Kveck said, the coming period will witness intensive efforts to deepen relations between Egypt and Hungary, especially in the fields of education, science, research and technology, after the equivalence of some Hungarian degrees from the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt.
