Three decades have passed since the Arab Music Festival and Conference was launched.
The festival continues its mission aimed at defending identity and improving public taste.
For the second year in a row, Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Magdy Saber, President of the Egyptian Opera House, launched the activities of the 30th edition of the festival which was consecrated to the souls of the late musician Gamal Salama and violist Abdo Dagher.
A number of senior officials of the Ministry of Culture participate in opening the festival including Jehan Morsi, director of the festival and conference, Dr. Mustafa El-Fiqi, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and a number of ambassadors, writers, media professionals, and members of the House of Representatives and Senate.
Dr.Abdel-Dayem said, “Music remains one of the close ties between the people of the Arab world. From the ocean to the Gulf, the tones are united and the melodies are mixed, even if the dialects, styles and vocabulary differ.
Since the birth of the Arab Music Festival and Conference, the ambassadors of art have gathered on the land of Egypt to reflect the originality and uniqueness of Arab creativity, and the role of this forum in preserving on identity, preserving heritage and restoring memories of the time of beautiful art, and throughout its successive sessions.
She indicated the previous festivals hosted a constellation of illustrious names in the history of Arab music and singing and became the golden gate for stars who crossed through it to the sky of fame.

She added that the 30th edition of this Arab artistic event comes to bear many meanings of loyalty and gratitude, as it was dedicated to the soul of the late giants, the musician Jamal. Salama and the violist Abdo Dagher as witnessing the honoring of the name of the great late Dr. Fawzy Fahmy, the former president of the Academy of Arts and one of the pillars of Egyptian culture, as well as the name of Dr. Ashraf Heikal, the former Dean of the Institute of Arab Music and musician Khaled Al-Amir, in addition to honoring 14 other personalities who wrote bright pages in the field of Arab music and singing, and continued that.
The Minister of Culture saluted the name of the late Dr. Ratiba El Hefny, founder of this shining event, which will forever remain one of the prominent symbols in this field.
She affirmed that with the opening of the 30th Arab Music Festival and Conference, we stand on the threshold of the launch of the activities of choosing Cairo as the capital of culture for the Islamic world, as the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) chose it to bear the title, as the events witness the presentation of many features of the Arab heritage.
The Minister concluded her speech by saluting all Egyptian and Arab artists and researchers from all over the world who were keen to participate and be present in the events and welcomed them on the land of Egypt.
Dr. Magdy saber said that the Opera House will remain the fortress of preserving serious arts and will remain a defender of creativity, even if the standards differ.
He stressed that we will not compromise in preserving the technical level we have achieved.
