Microsoft Boosts OneNote via AI Copilot

Microsoft is planning to deploy its new Microsoft 365 Copilot assistant to OneNote, The Verge reported.

“As your notetaking partner, Copilot uses your prompts to draft plans, generate ideas, create lists, organize information, and more,” explains Greg Mace, a product manager for OneNote.

The giant previously announced Copilot for apps like Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint last month. It is currently ready to demo how note-taking will be impacted by an AI-powered assistant.

The AI assistant can rewrite, format, or summarize the existing text in OneNote based on prompts in a sidebar interface. You can also ask the AI assistant to develop a plan for an event or generate topics and talking points for meetings.

On a separate note, Microsoft added a green screen feature in Teams to provide an enhanced virtual background effect during meetings.

"Microsoft Teams now supports a green screen feature which provides an enhanced virtual background effect," Jan Steberl, Microsoft Teams program manager, noted in a blog post.

The green screen reinforces the sharpness and definition of the virtual background effect around the user’s face, head, ears, and hair.

It also enables you to show a prop or other object in your hand to be more visible to other meeting participants.
