Zamalek's former head coach Milutin Sredojević "Micho" has been named Zambia's new head coach on Sunday.

In a statement, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said sixty coaches were nominated for Zambia's managerial hot seat, before settling on a three-man shortlist, which included the Serbian coach.

"An atmosphere of anxiety has gripped the football family as they await the unveiling of the newly appointed Chipolopolo coach. The FAZ executive committee settled for Milutin Sredolevic popularly known as ‘Micho’. The Serbian was picked after a highly rigorous process that commenced with a public advert in the national press," FAZ said on its official Facebook.

The 50-year-old coach is set to land in Zambia during the upcoming hours to sign a contract with FAZ.

The Copper Bullets was pooled in Group B in Africa's World Cup qualifiers, alongside Tunisia, Mauritanian and Equatorial Guinea.

The Serbian coach was appointed as Zamalek's new head coach in August before being sacked after almost 4 months on December, 2.

Micho guided the White Knights to claim Egypt Cup after thrashing Pyramids with three clean goals, but he failed to lift the Super Cup against Al Ahly, who defeated Zamalek 3-2 after a dramatic game.

He was sacked from Zamalek due to the bad results as he suffered a 0-3 defeat from TP Mazembe in the Egyptian League.
