Immigration Minister Nabila Makram announced that the Egyptian-Canadian actor Menna Massoud would be an ambassador for 'Speak Egyptian' initiative, launched by the Immigration Ministry to maintain the national identity.
Massoud is currently visiting Egypt to partake in El Gouna Film Festival.
Makram, during the meeting, expressed her pride for Massoud's latest successes and his adhesion to his mother language, Arabic, adding that art is one of Egypt's soft power elements, therefore Massoud's success abroad is a success for Egypt.
The minister wished for Massoud more success in his career.
The actor, on his part, expressed his happiness for choosing him as the initiative ambassador and being in Egypt, saying that he was determined to stick to his mother language.
Safwat Massoud, Mena's father, thanked the minister for her efforts in enhancing communication among the Egyptian expats and linking them with their homeland Egypt.
The Egyptian initiative offers to teach Arabic and the Egyptian accent for the Egyptian communities abroad through an easy program.
