The Senior Officials Meeting Preparatory to the Second Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities of OIC Member States kicked off in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of heads of anti-corruption law enforcement authorities in OIC Member States.
The meeting began with a speech by Mr. Nasser Abaalkhail, Deputy President for International Cooperation at the Saudi Arabia Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, representing the Chair of the First Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities in OIC Member States, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the efforts made by Saudi Arabia as Chair of the First Ministerial Meeting, which culminated in the adoption of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation.
The floor was then given to the representative of the State of Qatar, Ms. Amal Al-Kuwari, Director of the Control and Development Department at the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of Qatar, Chair of the Second Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities in OIC Member States. She emphasized the significance of Qatar’s hosting of this event, especially as it covers numerous topics related to strengthening economic integration among GCC Member States, including the roadmap for initiatives and projects for economic unity 2025 and the mechanisms for their implementation and follow-up.
For his part, Mr. Youssef Al-Dobeay, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, representing H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, OIC Secretary-General, expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its efforts as Chair of the First Ministerial Meeting, which culminated in the adoption of the Makkah Al Mukarramah Convention. He also extended thanks to the State of Qatar for hosting the Second Ministerial Meeting, and reviewed the ongoing efforts of the General Secretariat to urge Member States to sign and ratify the Convention, as well as the technical support provided to facilitate its entry into force.
Following the speeches, the meeting approved the draft agenda and discussed the proposed draft resolutions submitted for the consideration of the heads of anti-corruption law enforcement authorities in OIC Member States.
