Mai Omar to Star Alongside Amr Saad in Film "Al Ghorban"

Egyptian actress Mai Omar has recently joined the cast of actor Amr Saad's highly-anticipated film "AL Ghorban".

The cast also includes Abdulaziz Makhyoun, Safaa El-Toukhi, Ahmed Bedier, Gamil Barsoum, Mahmoud El Bezzawy, Maged El Masry, Asma Abulyazeid, Mohamed Alaa, and more.

Directed by Yassin Hassan, "Al Ghorban" depicts the Battle of Rommel or the First Battle of el-Alamein, which lasted throughout July 1942 during World War II in Egypt.

Saad previously noted that the film presents an Egyptian superhero just like the Americans. 

"The Americans serve their culture and country by presenting the American fighter or superhero and we will be presenting an Egyptian superhero designed in a way that is in our interest," he said.

The battle ended in a crushing defeat for the Germans after months of hit-and-run tactics. 

Al Ghorban

The project is comparable to Hollywood films in terms of the idea and shooting, especially the action and war scenes. 

Production lasted about two years and was shot in a snow-covered Russian region before the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war. 

The producing company created a movie set of El Alamein city in the Fayoum, at a cost of about $12 million. 

"Al Ghorban" first premieres in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Summer of 2023, before screening in the Gulf countries and the rest of the Arab world.

The film is also set to screen across the globe after being dubbed into 7 global languages.
