Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, visited this Saturday the covered hall in the Sixth of October City, which is scheduled to host the 2021 Handball World Cup, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and officials of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, supervising the project.
Madbouly listened to an explanation from the Minister for the construction currently being done in the new project, which includes the covered hall, the headquarters of the Egyptian Handball Federation, the headquarters of the African Handball Academy, and the office of the International Federation.
Sobhy explained that the new international covered hall is equipped with the latest equipment, on an area of about 32 thousand square meters, and will include a booth for senior visitors, a press conference hall, a media booth, suspension booths, 4,500 seats for spectators, and also includes 40 hotel rooms and 16 hotel suites, Video display screen, player rooms, heating and training hall, team health club, full gymnasium, meeting rooms for learners, top-class accommodation rooms.
It also contains the main stadium, conference hall, broadcast and signal room, referees' dressing room, health club (swimming pool - sauna - jacuzzi - gym), administrative offices, first, second and third class terraces, meeting area for players and media professionals, VIP entrance, analytical studio and a warm-up stadium
The minister also presented the hall's fittings, which include the latest sound systems, the latest global lighting, and the electronic gate system. All public services are available from restaurants and bathrooms at the highest level.
The Prime Minister tasked concerned officials to quickly complete the construction works in the covered hall so that the International Handball Federation can take over the buildings well in advance of the tournament date, which the project officials responded to, as the project is scheduled to be delivered before October 2020.
Dr. Madbouly also inspected the project “The Club” in 6th of October City accompanied by Dr. Sobhy.
The Prime Minister, during his inspection of the project, pointed out that it represents a realistic embodiment of the vision of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, in the importance of expanding integrated sports facilities, which provide a favourable climate to take care of the of our young children, and enhance their talents in sports, as well as providing the necessary equipment to host Important cultural, artistic and social activities.
Madbouly directed the necessity of implementing similar models of the club's project in a number of governorates in order to generalize the benefit of such important projects, which will have a great impact on our youth in terms of sports.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi emphasized that the “Club” project is the first commercial name that belongs to the government, specifically the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and is managed directly by the private sector, according to a future vision aimed at opening consecutive branches under the same trade name, and generalizing the idea in several governorates, through two phases; the first includes the branches of October, Sheraton, and the capital and the second phase includes Port Said, Aswan, and Luxor branches.
The minister pointed out that the first branch of the “The Club” project, which is nearing completion in the city of Six of October, has an area of about 19 acres, specifically about 80 thousand square meters, and is located on the Dahshur Link Road, in the distance between the Al-Wahat Road and Juhaina Square. The cost of the project is about 604 million pounds, and the planned capacity for the project will be 20 thousand memberships.
On the project management, the minister indicated that the project will be assigned to a specialized company, and the committee will be supervised by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The minister added that the project is an integrated sports city, which includes 14 stadiums, including 4 five-a-side football pitches, 4 courts, 4 tennis courts, 6 different competitions games, an international gymnastics hall, and a squash gym with 5 playgrounds and a pool complex swimming pool, including an Olympic one, gymnasium, walking track, service area with bank branches, in addition to a group of indoor and outdoor commercial stores.
