Macron's Party Has Name Change to 'Renaissance'

French President Emmanuel Macron's political party La République en Marche had name change a few days after the victory of Macron in the marathon of the Presidential elections, Politico reported on Thursday.

The new name given for the party is Renaissance, the party’s Executive Officer Stanislas Guerini announced.

Guerini said in a press conference: “Today we are initiating a movement to rebuild La République en Marche in order to continue expanding this political movement … in a political party that will carry the name of the Renaissance."

Regarding the choice of the name, Guerini explained, was to assert that the party would “always make the choice of enlightenment against obscurantism.” In addition, It will be “open to citizens, elected officials, local elected officials wherever they come from."

It is worthy to mention that French President Emmanuel Macron, who has been re-elected for a five-year term, will be sworn in as the country’s president on May 7, during an inauguration ceremony at the Elysee Palace.

The French TV channel (C News) said that the inauguration ceremony comes 13 days after his re-election, adding that the ceremony, which is organized according to tradition at the ballroom of the Elysee Palace, will be limited to the announcement of the presidential elections official results.

Moreover, the TV channel pointed out that President Macron will enter the ceremony hall accompanied by the President of the French National Assembly Richard Veron, President of the French Senate, Gerard Larcher, as well as the outgoing Prime Minister Jean Castex.

Then, the French Constitutional Council president Laurent Fabius, will read the decision to announce the final results of the presidential elections, according to the TV channel. It also added that the ceremony will conclude with a speech to reinstate Macron, after which 21 artillery rounds will be fired.
