French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to complete the ongoing negotiations to reach a truce between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement, which could lead to the release of hostages held in Gaza and the protection of civilians through a ceasefire and a halt to regional escalation.

Macron said - during a phone call with the Israeli Prime Minister - that Paris supports the ongoing mediation efforts, and reiterated his strong opposition to launching an Israeli attack on the Palestinian Rafah, stressing the utmost need to ensure the entry of large quantities of humanitarian aid through all crossings into the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from the French presidency.

Within the framework of the ongoing negotiations, the French President once again stressed the importance of releasing all hostages held in Gaza, especially the three Frenchmen.
