Egypt's Health Minister Hala Zayed announced on Tuesday the launch of the Ma'an Natmaen "Together, We Reassured... Register Now" campaign in Beheira and Qena governorates on Wednesday.

The mobile campaign, launched under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aims at helping citizens to register for the vaccine and be vaccinated on the same day.

Through its work in 12 governorates during the last week, the campaign has registered 45,460 citizens on the ministry’s website, Health ministry spokesman said in a statement.

On Tuesday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 688 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 298,296.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 17,016 nationwide after the ministry announced 24 deaths.

About 703 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 251,395.

Egypt plans to vaccinate 40 million citizens by the end of the year, representing around 40% of the population.
