Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said that the Egyptian economy has succeeded in maintaining its resilience in the face of the corona crisis repercussions due to adequate economic reforms overtaken in the past few years.
During a meeting with the Swiss ambassador in Cairo Paul Garnier, Maait stressed that the government will continue with structural reforms to deal with domestic and international challenges.
He pointed out that Egypt is the only country in the Middle East and Africa that maintained the confidence of international rating agencies, specifically, Standard & Poor's (S&P), Moody's and Fitch, during the difficult period of the pandemic.
He explained that the government is keen to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Swiss side in various fields, especially in the fields of health, education, transportation and renewable energy, referring to the mechanism for implementing the giant Benban project to produce solar energy.
He pointed out that what Egypt has developed a mechanism over the past two years to deal professionally with the repercussions of the coronavirus, including the usage of the latest technologies to secure various resources, while adhering to preventive measures.

"The corona crisis confirmed the importance of relying on the country's own resources, and this is what Egypt did," he added.
He added that Egypt is looking forward to cooperating with the Swiss side to enhance digitalization, raise the efficiency of financial management, move forward with structural reforms, and raise the efficiency of customs and tax authorities.
On his part, Garnier praised the success of the Egyptian economic reform on both the financial and monetary levels.
The ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt in various fields, especially in the area of structural reform and human recourses.
