Liverpool Suspends Sporting Activities Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Liverpool decided on Friday to temporarily suspend all sporting activities at the club after the suspension of the Premier League due to coronavirus concerns

Earlier today, all football events in the England, including the Premier League games, EFL fixtures and matches in the FA Women's Super League and Women's Championship have been postponed.

In a statement, the Reds said that they decided to postpone sporting activity at Melwood training ground following the Premier League decision. 

"Liverpool Football Club can confirm the first-team squad and staff will, voluntarily, temporarily suspend activity at Melwood training ground from today following the Premier League's announcement that fixtures will be postponed until April 4 due to the coronavirus outbreak," the statement read according to Liverpool's official webbsite. 

They also said that the first-team training session took place as normal today, but the players have been given inpidual programs to follow during this period.

"Players have been given inpidual programmes to follow during this period and first-team training took place as normal today," the statement added. 

"Liverpool will work with the club’s medical team and other relevant authorities to monitor the situation and decide upon a date to return to Melwood to give the squad the best chance of preparing for their next fixture," it concluded.
