Liverpool FC have officially announced the signing of Jérémy Jacquet, the young defender from French club Stade Rennais, in a move that will take effect at the start of the 2026–2027 season.

The Premier League club confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Rennes for the transfer of the 20-year-old center-back.

Jacquet is set to officially join Liverpool ahead of next season, subject to the completion of work permit requirements and international clearance.

As part of the agreement, Jacquet will remain with Rennes for the remainder of the current Ligue 1 campaign before completing his move to Anfield in the summer, where he will sign a long-term contract.

Jacquet, who has represented France’s Under-21 national team on five occasions, has made 18 league appearances for Rennes in the French top flight this season.

Since making his senior debut in January 2024, the defender has featured in 31 matches across all competitions for the club.

The young defender has also gained valuable experience during a previous loan spell with Clermont Foot, further enhancing his development at senior level.

On the international stage, Jacquet played a key role in France’s run to the final of the 2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, earning a place in the Team of the Tournament, a recognition that highlighted his growing reputation as one of France’s most promising defensive talents.

Liverpool’s move for Jacquet underlines the club’s continued focus on recruiting young, high-potential players as part of its long-term sporting strategy.
