The emergence of the fourth industrial revolution oriented great passion towards acquiring technical skills. Parents try all the time to provide their children with technical courses related to technology, artificial intelligence and cyber security.

The future of the labor market is connected to technology, and the change has taken place in many jobs and skills. This attitude profoundly changes in the learner’s personality as it affects his interaction with the community around him and tends to create materialistic personality.

The importance of technical skills has increased due to the needs of labor markets. They are specific abilities required to perform certain tasks or use technology effectively. These abilities include proficiency in software applications and programing. Data analysis and engineering, digital marketing are also highly recommended skills by educational experts.

On the other hand, rushing towards technical skills and neglecting life skills may lead to incomplete personality. This personality may suffer from interaction with the community around him or be unable to adapt to different circumstances.

Therefore, the need of life skills has become a must to overcome various problems in workplace. Life skills are essential abilities that help the person to manage his everyday life and interact effectively with others.

They include many subskills which are essential for everybody such as communication skills, problem solving, which will help in identifying issues and analyzing situations. In addition, critical thinking helps in making reasoned judgments and emotional intelligence to manage emotions.

All these life skills will formulate a balanced personality who is flexible and open to

change in various situations.

Achieving balance between life skills and technical skills is a real challenge for youth, parents and educators. While technical skills can help you excel in specialized roles, life skills ensure you can manage and thrive in diverse situations, build relationships, and handle everyday challenges. In the past, a college degree and technical skills were seen as the keys to a successful career.

Nowadays, employers are asking for formal qualifications and life skills. Employers are aware of the significance of life skills to have highly productive employees and positive teamwork environment. Technical skills remain valuable in evaluating the individual however the integration of life skills and technical skills is a must to be part of the competitive job market.

However, there are several obstacles and challenges facing implementing life skills. One of these obstacles is lack of awareness of the value of life skills as there is a perception that these skills are “soft” and less important than knowledge and technical know-how. Overcoming this perception requires changing the awareness of people through education and media.

Hence, the future demands an education system that elevates human potential by valuing independent thinking, creativity and critical thinking. It’s time to start empowering youth with both life and technical skills to achieve personal and professional growth.
