The Russian presidency (the Kremlin) suggested that some NATO member-states could mediate positively to reduce tensions and normalize relations between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO) and Russia.

This came on Friday, in the words of Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, when commenting on the statements of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who said that Ankara could not stand idly by in the face of the escalating differences between Russia and Ukraine, especially within the framework of NATO, to which Turkey belongs.

Peskov acknowledged the existence of "difficult points of disagreement" between Russia and Ukraine, between Russia and the United States of America (USA), and between Russia and NATO.

Peskov suggested that the Americans would hold consultations with Turkey, especially on the existing tensions with Moscow.

The spokesman for the Russian presidency pointed out the differing positions of the NATO countries.

He explained that some countries that take positions that are very hostile to us, and there are also other countries that, on the contrary, follow an approach that requires continuing dialogue and settling all problems in a diplomatic way.

He added that those countries tend to consider the real concerns of Russia, and they can, without a doubt, contribute positively to this process."

On the other hand, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that there are indications that the Ukrainian government is preparing to launch a new military attack on the Donbas region.

During a press briefing held today, Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that the situation in Ukraine is still in the process of continuous deterioration, especially at the line of contact in the Donbas region in the southeast of this country.
