The Russian presidency (Kremlin) said today (Friday) that Moscow has decided to extend the grain agreement across the Black Sea for 60 days, confirming previous statements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ukraine stated that the agreement, which will expire soon, must be fully renewed under the current terms of a 120-day extension.
That agreement was brokered by Turkey weeks ago.
In Geneva, the UN office said discussions were still ongoing about renewing the agreement with the same terms to alleviate the hunger problem in the world.
The Black Sea Grain Initiative, which the United Nations and Turkey brokered between Russia and Ukraine last July, aims to prevent a global food crisis by allowing Ukrainian grain to be safely exported from three Ukrainian ports.
