On Friday, Buckingham Palace announced that Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, will host the annual holiday carol concert at Westminster Abbey.

The event will take place on December 15 and it will be attended by charity staff, volunteers, workers, and military personnel, alongside members of the Royal Family.

This year's Christmas concert will also witness a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September at age 96.

The palace said in a statement: "These principles are shared and personified by the inspirational guests who have been invited to the Abbey from across the U.K. in recognition of their tireless efforts to help and care for those around them," the palace said.

The concert will be filmed to be aired on Christmas Eve on TV.

Last year, the Princess of Wales paid a tribute to the Queen Mother, during hosting the annual Christmas event, as she wore earrings taken from the late Mother Queen's collection. Kate is considered one of the few royals who had the chance to wear pieces from her collection.
