Kamala Harris Meets Indo-Pacific Leaders at APEC

US Vice President Kamala Harris had a major meeting, with Indo-Pacific leaders, concerning the latest North Korean action of firing ballistic missiles, on Friday.

The meeting was organized on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and it included Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, South Korea's Prime Minister Han Duck-soo , Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The leaders exchanged views regarding the latest missile firing by North Korea.

They agreed to continue mutual coordination with each other, and their allies to maintain their national security.

Moreover, they named the launch of the missiles as a violation of the UN Resolutions.

The leaders asserted that North Korea's nuclear test will be responded to strongly by the international community. 

However, They underscored that the door is still open to dialogue.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that North Korea launched today, Friday, intercontinental ballistic missile, which is likely to have fell in Japan's exclusive economic zone in the Sea of ​​Japan.

Kishida condemned North Korea's launch of the missiles, describing this act as "totally unacceptable," according to the Japanese Kyodo News Agency.

Japanese Defence Minister Yasukazu Hamada told reporters on Friday that the missile was capable of flying as far as 15,000 km, while Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said it flew to an altitude of about 6,000 km with a range of 1,000 km, before landing in the sea roughly 200 kilometres west of Oshima-Oshima Island in Hokkaido., Reuters reported.
