Jordan's King Stresses Need for Security, Stability in Syria

King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the vital importance of protecting the security and well-being of Syria and its citizens, aiming to actively ensure the country's stability. His remarks came during discussions held on Monday with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, via separate telephone calls.

According to a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court, the King underscored that the security and stability of Syria are crucial for the broader regional peace and stability. He also expressed his concern over the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and for the international community to bolster its response to the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the area.

King Abdullah urged the intensification of international efforts to create a political horizon that ensures a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. He highlighted the importance of various efforts to ensure the success of the ceasefire in Lebanon, stressing the interconnectedness of peace and stability across the Middle Eastern region.
