The Secretary-General of the Government of Japan, Yoshihiko Isozaki, warned during a press conference in Tokyo, that an "energy alert" could be declared in a number of regions of the country due to the lack of electricity, against the background of abnormally hot weather.
Isozaki added that today, Thursday, temperatures are expected to reach record levels in June, which will also push electricity consumption to very high levels at this time of year.
The Secretary-General of the Japanese Government said that the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Trade will take the appropriate decision based on the situation in each period separately.
The reasons for these problems are the high prices of liquefied natural gas and growing concerns about the stability of the electricity supply in the country.
