The United States administration announced on Friday that Japan will be delivering Patriot missile defense system missiles to the United States.

According to The New York Times, Japan has insisted that the Patriot missiles are intended for use within the Indo-Pacific region and cannot be directly sent to Ukraine or other conflict zones.

However, the newspaper noted that by assisting in bolstering U.S. stockpiles, Japan-made missile systems can replace those sent by the United States to Ukraine.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan welcomed this announcement, stating that "this decision will contribute to Japan's security and peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region by ensuring the continued ability of US forces to provide reliable deterrence and response, in close cooperation with Japan's Self-Defense Forces."

The move signifies a collaborative effort between Japan and the United States to enhance regional security and reinforce defense capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region.

This development also underscores the importance of international cooperation in maintaining peace and stability worldwide.
