Italian Foreign Minister (FM) Antonio Tajani announced on Friday, that Italy has decided to appoint an ambassador to Syria.
The current special envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Syria, Stefano Ravagnan, has been appointed as ambassador. Tajani stated that he is expected to take up his post soon.
Italy is the first G7 country to resume the work of its diplomatic mission in Syria since 2011.
