Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani emphasized the strategic importance of Egypt in promoting regional stability and supporting peace efforts during a joint press conference with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
He highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations, saying: "In Italy, we study ancient Egyptian history in primary school before even learning about Italian history. The relationship between Egypt and Italy spans thousands of years and is built on historical connections."
The Italian minister also underscored the importance of upholding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, calling for international commitment to ensure safe and open maritime routes in the region.
