The Israel Defense Forces announced on Thursday that it carried out airstrikes against targets linked to Hezbollah in several areas of southern Lebanon, citing what it described as repeated violations of the ceasefire understandings.

Lebanese broadcaster Al Jadeed reported that two Israeli airstrikes hit buildings in the town of Sahmar. There was no immediate information on casualties or injuries resulting from the strikes.

Earlier, the Israeli army issued warnings to residents of several buildings in Sahmar. In a statement posted on the X platform, an Israeli military spokesperson said the strikes would target what he described as “Hezbollah military infrastructure,” accusing the group of attempting to rebuild its military capabilities in the area.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was reached in November 2024 through U.S. mediation, following more than a year of cross-border exchanges. Despite the agreement, Israel has maintained control over certain positions in southern Lebanon and has continued to conduct strikes in both southern and eastern parts of the country.

Under the terms of the truce, Hezbollah’s weapons are to be dismantled by the Lebanese army starting from areas adjacent to the Israeli border. Israel has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of violating the agreement by rebuilding military infrastructure in southern Lebanon, describing such actions as breaches of the ceasefire arrangements.
