Israel will donate 117 mobile power generators to Ukraine in an effort to ease the country’s ongoing energy crisis, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced Monday.
According to a statement from Israel’s Foreign Ministry, the generators will be transported to the Kyiv region to help address severe electricity shortages caused by extensive damage to energy infrastructure during the war.
Sa’ar revealed the move during a phone call marking the fourth anniversary of the war in Ukraine. He said the assistance aims to provide immediate relief to communities struggling with power disruptions following repeated attacks on critical facilities.
The decision to send the generators came after prior discussions with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, signaling continued diplomatic coordination between Jerusalem and Kyiv.
During the call, Sa’ar also discussed the situation of Jewish communities across Ukraine, many of which have been affected by the prolonged conflict.
Rabbi Meir Stambler, head of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Ukraine, expressed appreciation for Israel’s ongoing support and highlighted the importance of international assistance for communities facing difficult humanitarian conditions.
Ukraine has faced persistent energy shortages since the war began, with repeated strikes targeting power plants and grid infrastructure.
International aid, including equipment such as generators, has played a critical role in stabilizing the electricity supply during peak demand periods and harsh winter conditions.
