Israel said its air force launched intensive strikes on targets linked to the Iranian regime in Tehran on Monday, as air raid sirens sounded across central Israel following the detection of incoming rockets.
The Israeli defense minister announced that the Israeli Air Force was carrying out “extensive attacks” against Iranian regime targets in the capital, marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two sides.
Shortly afterward, sirens wailed in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashkelon and Ashdod after rockets were detected heading toward Israeli territory. Sirens were also activated in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, with residents reporting loud explosions.
Israeli media said a rocket carrying a fragmentation warhead exploded in Petah Tikva in central Israel. Israel’s ambulance service confirmed it had received reports of a direct hit in the city, though there were no immediate details on casualties or the scale of the damage.
In a separate statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted U.S. military positions in the region as part of what it described as the 15th wave of operations. There was no immediate confirmation from U.S. officials.
The exchange underscores the growing risk of a broader regional conflict, as cross-border strikes and retaliatory operations intensify between Israel and Iran.
